ASCO and the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine (AAHPM) today announced a joint initiative to support delivery of high-quality palliative care in medical oncology. ASCO, a member of the National Coalition for Cancer Research, has signed on to a letter sent this week to Congressional leaders regarding the impact of budget sequestration on cancer research. The budget cuts that are slated to take place March 1 will result in a “severely negative impact on cancer research,” according to the letter, dated Feb. 25.
